The Telangana Thalli Flyover is a prominent road infrastructure landmark near the Telangana Secretariat in Hyderabad. Earlier known as the Telugu Thalli Flyover, it connects the Secretariat area with Lower Tank Bund and provides an important road link around the central part of Hyderabad.
The flyover was originally constructed during the undivided Andhra Pradesh period to address traffic congestion around the Secretariat and Tank Bund area. It was opened to traffic in January 2005 and was initially named Telugu Thalli Flyover. In 2025, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) renamed it Telangana Thalli Flyover.
What Is Telangana Thalli Flyover?
The Telangana Thalli Flyover is an elevated road connecting the Secretariat side with Lower Tank Bund in central Hyderabad.

History of Telangana Thalli Flyover
The history of the flyover goes back to the late 1990s, when traffic congestion around the Secretariat area had become a concern.
A foundation stone was laid in 1997 for the project. The objective was to create an elevated connection between the Secretariat and Lower Tank Bund and provide an alternative route for traffic.
Construction encountered several challenges and took several years to complete. The flyover was eventually opened in January 2005.
It was named Telugu Thalli Flyover, reflecting the identity associated with Telugu culture at the time.
Telugu Thalli Flyover Renamed To Telangana Thalli Flover
In September 2025, the GHMC Standing Committee approved a proposal to rename the flyover as Telangana Thalli Flyover and recommended the change to the State government.
The renamed board was subsequently installed by GHMC. A PTI report dated 1 October 2025 confirmed that GHMC had renamed the flyover and installed the new name board.
Recent Telangana Thalli Flyover
The flyover received another major update in 2026, this time involving its visual appearance.
GHMC started a โน60 lakh beautification project at the flyover in May 2026. The earlier Buddha-themed murals on the flyover pillars were removed as part of the makeover.
The new artwork is planned around Telangana's heritage, festivals and biodiversity.
The Telangana Thalli Flyover is an important part of Hyderabad's central road network and has a history spanning more than two decades. The combination of its historical role, central location and recent cultural makeover makes the Telangana Thalli Flyover a notable infrastructure and urban landmark in Hyderabad.
